See the German Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Ludwigshafen, Germany

The month of December is a wonderful time in Germany.  Most Christmas traditions we have in the States originate from Germany.  The Christmas Tree, most Christmas Carols, the types of Christmas decorations….even the tradition of Santa Claus has been influenced by German tradition.

Almost every village in Germany has a Christmas Market (called Weihnachtsmarkt in German and pronounced “Vy-knocks-mark-t”).  A group of shelters are setup selling foods, crafts, and candies.  Music is playing in the background, and it is a festive time.  In the larger cities, there may be multiple Weihnachtsmarken setup and they are bigger.

The city we live in is called Ludwigshafen.  And, our Weihnachtsmarkt is setup at the main train station at Berlinerplatz.  The best thing about having this here, was it was great to stroll through as I waited for my bus home after work.
